Drew Bledsoe ripped into Tom Brady with a brutal joke about the end of his marriage to Gisele Bundchen during Sunday's Netflix roast of his old Patriots teammate.
But the morning after delivering the gag to a stunned audience in California, the former quarterback admitted it was not his own work.
Brady was roasted by a number of high-profile figures - including stand-up comedians, celebrities and ex-teammates like Bledsoe - in a live Netflix special on Sunday night.
Legendary ex-Patriots coach Bill Belichick also took to the podium to tear into his former Super Bowl-winning quarterback, whom he famously brought into the team at Bledsoe's expense back in 2001.
The latter pulled no punches when called upon to take shots at Brady, with his most ruthless piece of material a dig at the end of his 13-year marriage to supermodel Gisele.

Bledsoe joked about Brady not being 'touched' in his NFL career before referencing his marriage to Bundchen
The legendary quarterback raised his eyebrows and took swigs of two different drinks
'Obviously buddy, you got really used to not being touched,' Bledsoe said when referencing Brady's football career.
He then added: 'Just like the end of the marriage.'
The joke drew a huge gasp from the audience at Kia Forum as an awkward Brady raised his eyebrows and took swigs of two different drinks.
However, the day after the roast Bledsoe conceded that his wife actually came up with it.
'I'm gonna get in really, really big trouble for this, but I'm willing to wear it,' he said on the Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz. 'The Gisele joke... that actually came from my wife. Don't tell her I told you.
'But the truth is, it was a replacement for a joke I had written that was far worse, and she said "no you can't do that one". And so she helped me write something that was a little more of a softball.'
When asked about the initial joke he wrote himself, Bledsoe said: 'No, we're not going there! She told me I couldn't say it.
'Then I'd really get in trouble if I actually told you the joke that she wouldn't let me say.'

Bundchen is understood to be fuming with the jokes made about her and Brady's marriage
Bledsoe was also subjected to a roasting himself on the night, with comedian Sam Jay poking fun at his one and only Super Bowl triumph.
'The only ring you have is the one Tom won for you,' Jay said. 'So your Super Bowl ring is just like my strap on. Just because you wear it doesn't make it real.'
'She's so mean!' Bledsoe said about the putdown. 'My feelings were hurt.'
According to People, Bundchen was left fuming at the jokes about her and Brady's former marriage during the special, saying she 'was deeply disappointed by the disrespectful portrayal of her family on Sunday evening's roast show'.
'As always, [Bundchen's] priority is to support her children who were affected by the irresponsible content that was broadcasted,' the insider went on.
Bundchen is said to be less than impressed about her divorce with Brady, and her subsequent new relationship with jiu jitsu trainer Joaquim Valente, being used as the butt of jokes.
The supermodel was referenced on multiple occasions throughout Sunday's Netflix special
One shock quip saw comedian Nikki Glaser referencing Valente's martial arts prowess, saying: 'How much would it suck for Tom... omg, just knowing your ex-wife's new boyfriend could beat your a** while eating hers.'
Tom and Gisele — who share two kids together, son Benjamin, 13, and daughter Vivian, 10 — divorced on October 28, 2022, after 13 years of marriage.
Others who roasted the NFL legend on Sunday were host Kevin Hart, Julian Edelman, Rob Gronkowski, Randy Moss and Kim Kardashian.
